Description

1865 Quarter, PR65 Deep Cameo
Seldom Seen With Such Contrast

1865 25C PR65 Deep Cameo PCGS. This lightly toned Gem proof quarter shows a sharp strike throughout both sides on surfaces that are largely free of post-Mint distractions. Some tiny raised lumps, most noticeable on the upper half of Liberty, appear to be die rust, as made, and a couple of small, curving strikethroughs were similarly as made at the Mint. Generous field-device contrast and good eye appeal prevail over all. Few Gem proof survivors of this issue show such deep cameo contrast. Population: 3 in 65 Deep Cameo, 4 finer (12/14).(Registry values: P3)
