Description

PCGS 1867 PR 64. Proof 1867 quarters are scarce in their own right with only 600 pieces struck, but their importance is magnified by the absolute rarity of business strikes, of which only 16,000 were produced. According to the February Population Report only 29 proofs have been so graded with another 10 in higher grades. This is a very pleasing coin that has doubtless seen some hairlining but this is not evident when viewing the coin with the unaided eye. What one notices is the phenomenal toning: rich cinnamon shades on the obverse accented by blue peripheral color and deeper, almost rust colored shades on the reverse.
