    Description

Gem Proof 1868 Seated Liberty Quarter
Only Three Numerically Finer Coins at PCGS

1868 25C PR65 PCGS. Only 600 proof Seated Liberty quarters were struck in 1868, to accompany a small business-strike emission of just 29,400 pieces. The limited mintage of business strikes has always put considerable pressure on the small supply of proofs from date collectors. This delightful Gem is sharply detailed throughout, except for just a touch of softness on the banner. The deeply mirrored fields are toned in spectacular shades of cobalt-blue, sea-green, and dove-gray, with no mentionable distractions. Population: 9 in 65 (1 in 65+), 3 finer (11/12).
Ex: Tice Family Collection (Stack's, 6/1962), lot 720, flip accompanies the lot.
    From The Teich Family Collection.(Registry values: P2) (NGC ID# 23WZ, PCGS# 5567)
