    1869 Seated Quarter, PR67 ★ Cameo
    Briggs 2-B, Doubled Die Obverse

1869 25C PR67 ★ Cameo NGC. Briggs 2-B, Doubled Die Obverse. This PR67 Cameo is another notable conditional rarity from the Newman Collection Seated quarter proofs from the 1860s. Its incredible eye appeal is virtually on a par with its higher-grade counterparts. The coloration and overall fabric of this coin are consistent with its siblings from the 1860s. A noticeable pair of raised vertical marks above Liberty's head appear to be Mint-made, possibly the start of a planchet lamination. The NGC Star designation denotes exceptional eye appeal, an assessment with which we wholeheartedly concur. The strike is full throughout both sides. The proof obverse is a doubled die, the doubling most obvious on the bottom shield lines and doubled LIBERTY. Census: 3 in 67 (3 in 67 ), 0 finer (10/13).

Truth Seeker: The Life of Eric P. Newman (softcover)
A powerful and intimidating dealer of the 1960s, backed by important colleagues, was accused of selling fraudulent gold coins and ingots to unsuspecting numismatists. Who would go up against a man like that and, over the course of decades, prove the fraud? Who would expose a widely respected scholar as a thief, then doggedly pursue recovery of coins that the scholar had stolen from an embarrassed numismatic organization, all over the objections of influential collectors who had bought coins with clouded titles? Eric P. Newman would - and did. Reserve your copy today.
