    1872 Seated Quarter, PR68
    Rim-Toned With Silver-White Centers
    Sole Finest at NGC

1872 25C PR68 NGC. The reverse of this 1872 quarter displays a raised die line, over 1 mm long, crossing the left shield border and identifying this as a proof die, used also on proofs from 1873 through 1880. This splendid unquestionable proof exhibits mostly brilliant silver-white centers framed by russet, violet, and deep blue toning closer to the borders. Considerable contrast appears on both sides, giving the impression that the central devices are floating above the surface, although NGC did not designate this piece as a Cameo. This is the sole finest example certified at NGC (6/13).
Ex: Long Beach Signature (Heritage, 9/2008), lot 1878, which brought $21,850.

Thanks to Heritage I realized a handsome profit for my coin submissions and intend to send most of the remainder of my collection to Heritage Auction Galleries for future auctions.
