Description

1872 Seated Quarter, PR68
One of Three Numerically Finest-Graded

1872 25C PR68 NGC. From a mintage of 950 coins, this exemplary proof specimen is one of the three finest-graded examples (one of which is an NGC PR68 Cameo). The magnificent visual appeal of the piece is its most noteworthy attribute, but the highest degree of technical merit is likewise seen on each side. The untoned silvery-gray central motifs are framed on each side by gorgeous layers of deep champagne, gold-brown, and purple peripheral patina. The surfaces are splendidly preserved and free of even minor flaws. Census: 2 in 68, 0 finer (10/14).(Registry values: P2)
