Deeply Toned, Superb Gem Proof 1874 Arrows Quarter
1874 25C Arrows PR 67 PCGS. In addition to its status as a two-year type coin, this proof specimen's desirability is further enhanced by its tantalizing eye appeal. The deep, rich, lilac-charcoal toning shows multicolored undertones throughout the obverse. While this toning scheme limits the visual impact of the mirrored fields, the bold definition is fully appreciable at every angle. The stellar surfaces continue to support the PR 67 grade even under magnification. Although not for everyone, we suspect that this coin will have little difficulty pleasing those who seek originality. A solid Condition Census example, the present coin shares the PR 67 grade level with only two other coins at both major grading services and is bettered by none (9/99).Ex: 1999 Chicago ANA Sale (Heritage, 8/99), lot 6930.
