    Description

1877 25C PR65 NGC. This lovely proof, one of 510 pieces minted, displays lavender and cobalt-blue peripheral toning, which is more extensive on the reverse. The centers are brilliant, and present moderate motif-field contrast. The design elements are exquisitely struck and frosty. A few wispy hairlines are noted in the fields, but do not really detract from the coin's overall eye appeal. NGC and PCGS have certified a total of only 32 pieces at this level, and 18 finer (5/05). Moreover, our records show that the major auction houses have offered 15 PR65 coins over the past 15 years, and just six grading higher. Population: 19 in 65, 12 finer (5/05).(#5578) (Registry values: P2) (NGC ID# 23X9, PCGS# 5578)

    Weight: 6.25 grams

    Metal: 90% Silver, 10% Copper
