Description

Superb Proof 1877 Quarter Pedigreed to Both John Jay Pittman and Phil Kaufman

1877 25C PR67 NGC. Ex: Pittman. Briggs 1-B. Uniform brilliance is evident as the coin rotates under the light. The devices possess needle sharp striking definition in all areas, and the surfaces are smooth and virtually pristine in all areas. A rich endowment of antique-copper toning envelops both sides with more vivid, cobalt-blue and golden-orange undertones. The two major grading services have certified only five proof 1877 Seated Quarters at this level, and none finer (1/03).
Ex: Hardegen Sale (Hans Schulman, 12/1973), lot 604; John Jay Pittman Collection (Akers, 5/1998), lot 1358.
From the Philip Kaufman Collection. (NGC ID# 23X9, PCGS# 5578)

    Weight: 6.25 grams

    Metal: 90% Silver, 10% Copper
