Description

1878 Seated Quarter, PR65+ Cameo
Finest at PCGS

1878 25C PR65+ Cameo PCGS. CAC. Briggs 4-D. This is the finest 1878 Seated quarter at PCGS in Cameo proof by virtue of the PCGS Plus designation and CAC endorsement. One other PR65 Cameo piece is its numeric equal at the service, but that coin lacks both the Plus and CAC recognition. Snow-white, frosted central devices float on glassy-mirrored fields, framed by reddish-gold and vibrant blue toning at the margins. The strike is needle-sharp despite the fact that 1878 proofs were not carefully made, showing a fine die crack between stars 3 and 4 and numerous lumps from die rust in and around the reverse shield. Population: 2 in 65 (1 in 65+) Cameo, 0 finer. CAC: 1 in 65, 0 finer (2/17).(Registry values: P2)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 23XA, PCGS# 85579, Greysheet# 5346)
