    Description

    1880 Seated Quarter, PR68 ★ Cameo
    Reverse Die of 1872

1880 25C PR68 ★ Cameo NGC. Type One Reverse. A die line crossing the left shield border identifies the reverse as the same one that was used for proofs in every year from 1872 to 1880. Obvious white on black contrast challenges the Ultra Cameo designation. A gorgeous, razor-sharp, and fully brilliant Superb Gem, unquestionably among the finest examples of the date. The quality is worthy of a trophy-winning Registry Set. Proofs and business strikes combined for less than 15,000 pieces, since the mints were burdened with heavy Morgan dollar production. Census: 1 in 68 Cameo, 1 finer as PR69 Cameo (3/11).
