Description

1882 Seated Liberty Quarter, PR68 Cameo
    Tied for Finest Certified

1882 25C PR68 Cameo NGC. The surfaces of this 1882 Seated quarter are virtually perfect, as expected of the grade, and starkly contrasted with dynamic eye appeal. The sharply struck central devices are amply frosted and stand out from the surrounding fields, gunmetal-gray close to the centers with vibrant colors near the rims. Peripheral shadings are gold-orange and teal on each side with broader coverage on the reverse. With a mintage of 1,100 specimens, this proof issue is popular with type collectors, and the discerning enthusiast should recognize the importance of the present piece. This piece is tied as the finest surviving Cameo at either grading service (5/14).
