Description

    1884 Seated Quarter, PR66 Cameo
    Scarce, Low Total-Mintage Issue

1884 25C PR66 Cameo PCGS. CAC. Only 875 proofs were struck in 1884 with a scant 8,000 business strikes produced also, the combination of which makes this issue one of the lowest total mintage dates in the entire Seated quarter series. This coin is originally toned with a thin coating of antique-golden patina present over the obverse. The reverse is much more deeply patinated with intermingled shades of reddish-gold and gunmetal-blue. The devices are noticeably frosted against the deeply mirrored fields, and there are no mentionable surface flaws. Population: 10 in 66 (1 in 66+) Cameo, 8 finer (4/14).
