Description

    1885 Seated Liberty Quarter
    PR68
    Cameo

1885 25C PR68 ★ Cameo NGC. NGC has certified three 1885 quarters as PR68 Cameo, and two of those carry the Star designation (3/11), with none finer. The two Star-designated pieces are clearly different, as this example is fully brilliant on both sides, while the other one (appearing in our October 2008 sale as lot 680), carries iridescent toning. This boldly defined piece displays amazing contrast, nearly attaining the Ultra Cameo designation, with sharp design details everywhere except at the stars along the right obverse border. Stars 7 through 12 are typically weak on all proof 1885 quarters.
