Description

    1888 Seated Liberty Quarter, PR67
    Deeply Mirrored, Nicely Toned

1888 25C PR67 NGC. Low Philadelphia business-strike mintages from 1879 to 1890 in both the quarter and half dollar series put extra pressure on proofs of the era. This Superb Gem proof quarter is rare for both its high numeric grade and its outstanding aesthetic appeal. The superb coloration on the obverse ranges from ice-blue centers to jade-green, lemon-yellow, and lilac near the rims. The reverse toning is in deeper hues of sunset-orange, magenta, and fuchsia. A delectable example of one of the rarities in the Seated Liberty series, from an original proof mintage of just 832 pieces. Census: 9 in 67 (1 in 67+, 1 in 67 ), 4 finer (4/14).
