Description
1890 Superb Proof Quarter With a Deep Cameo Effect
1890 25C PR67 Deep Cameo PCGS. The penultimate proof issue in the Seated Quarter series, this gorgeous Superb Gem combines richly frosted devices with deeply mirrored fields. There is no toning save for some delicate golden tinting in a few isolated peripheral areas, and distracting abrasions are conspicuous by their absence. There are numerous rough unfinished areas within the recesses of the reverse shield, all of which are as made. This coin shares the PR67 Deep Cameo level with three other specimens at PCGS, and there is only one graded finer (3/04).Ex: Charlotte ANA Signature Sale (Heritage, 3/03), lot 5720, which realized $10,062.50.
