    Description

    1890 Quarter, PR68
    Crescent-Toned Obverse

1890 25C PR68 NGC. The 1890 Seated quarter had a proof mintage of 590 coins complementing the 80,000 circulation strikes, a year that saw Philadelphia finally recovering from a decadelong slump. For the collector who appreciates top-notch quality, this PR68 NGC-graded quarter is an ideal choice. While the surfaces are approaching perfection, it is the aesthetic appeal that is so desirable. The obverse has a crescent of iridescent toning from 12:30 clockwise to 7:30, with the balance brilliant. The reverse has evenly distributed blue and magenta color. Census: 3 in 68, 1 numerically finer (a remarkable PR69 Cameo) (6/13).
Ex: Long Beach Signature (Heritage, 6/2005), lot 6000, which brought $10,925.
