    Description

Rare Cameo PR66 1891 Seated Quarter
    With Interesting Strike

1891 25C PR66 Cameo NGC. Only 600 proof Seated Liberty quarters were struck in 1891, and survivors in Premium Gem condition, with the Cameo designation, are quite rare. The reverse die had been used to strike proofs in 1890, and the dies seem to have been improperly spaced in the press, resulting in incomplete detail in many areas. The present coin does exhibit profound field-device contrast, but the devices lack detail in many areas (star centers, motto, arrow fletchings, hair, etc.). The fields are brightly reflective and brilliant. An interesting example for students of the minting process, as well as series specialists. Census: 23 in 66 Cameo, 10 finer (9/10).(Registry values: P1) (NGC ID# 597E, PCGS# 85592)

    Weight: 6.25 grams

    Metal: 90% Silver, 10% Copper
