Description

1895 Dollar PR 68 NGC. The story of the 1895 proof dollar is so well known that it need not be repeated here. We will assume that anyone who is seriously interested in this set or this individual coin will have acquainted themselves with the proof-only status of this date and the strong date pressure that accompanies even the most humble examples that enter the marketplace. What does need to be disseminated to the coin buying public, however, is the extraordinary quality of this piece. Essentially perfect, and a good match to the other coins in this set of the same grade, the obverse has a very light accent of smoky-rose patina while the reverse has more depth of color with the addition of some gray toning. A stunning example of this highly coveted proof dollar and the cornerstone of this ultimate quality proof set.
The entire six-piece set is from the Green Mountain Collection of high grade type.
