High Quality 1874 Proof Set

1874 1C Cent PR 65 Red and Brown NGC. A beautiful specimen, the moderately reflective surfaces sparkle beneath rich olive-gold iridescence. The strike is indicative of proof production methods and there are no mentionable contact marks.

1874 Three Cent Nickel PR 65 PCGS. Untoned and silver-white in appearance, the surfaces display pinpoint striking detail and modest cameo contrast.

1874 Nickel PR 65 NGC. Delicate sandy-gold patina blankets both sides and deepens slightly in isolated areas throughout. The fields are bright and reflective and there are no marks that would seem to preclude an even higher grade.

1874 Arrows Dime PR 64 PCGS. A modestly cameoed representative of this short-lived and popular type. Both sides are untoned and the surfaces are at the threshold of a full Gem grade.

1874 Arrows Quarter PR 64 NGC. A gorgeous coin from the standpoint of originality, the obverse displays electric-blue undertones and mottled cobalt-blue patina. The reverse is evenly toned in midnight-blue and lavender-gray shades with similarly colored undertones. The glassy fields and crisply struck devices have some claim to an even higher grade.

1874 Arrows Half PR 64 NGC. Mottled charcoal and russet iridescence interrupts the otherwise milky-white surfaces. There is little cameo contrast, but the glassy fields serve as a breathtaking backdrop for the sharply detailed devices. An issue that is in great demand among type collectors.

1874 Trade Dollar PR 64 NGC. Rich apricot and sunset-russet shades dominate both sides, but the reverse is somewhat lighter in appearance. There are neither distracting hairlines nor contact marks and the surfaces reveal their prooflike qualities at most angles. The 1874 is scarcer than many of the later proof issues in the Trade dollar series.
