1897 1C Cent PR 67 Red and Brown NGC. One of only two specimens to attain a superb gem grade designation from NGC, PCGS reports a single PR 68 specimen above the gem level (1/99). This is an incredibly colorful piece with deep pumpkin-brown patination over the obverse fields that lightens to gold over the devices. The reverse carries a cornucopia of fluorescent shades that includes purple, green, magenta, and pink. The smooth surfaces and razor sharp strike, of course, give this coin technical quality in addition to its vivid eye appeal.
