Description
1871 Proof Set--Uncertified. Imagine buying a proof set with nine different regular issue coins from the U. S. mint, and for just a few cents over the face value of the coinage. That was life in 1871, and while this set has not all been preserved as well as one might hope, it does provide a great deal of interesting history. Including:
Indian Cent PR 64 Red and Brown. An unusual combination of orange and blue-green hues.
Two-Cents PR 64 Brown. Uniform light brown in color with red undertones.
Three-Cent Nickel PR 64. Brilliant with one spot on the neck accounting for the grade.
Three-Cent Silver PR 60. Essentially brilliant with sufficient light hairlines to account for the grade.
Seated Liberty Half Dime PR 60. Has retoned in rose-gray and orange over light hairlines.
Seated Liberty Dime PR 63. Mostly brilliant with a light cameo contrast.
Seated Liberty Quarter PR 61. An untoned cameo with numerous hairlines.
Seated Liberty Half Dollar PR 60 Cleaned. Brilliant and well scrubbed, but not unattractive.
Seated Liberty Dollar PR 61. A brilliant cameo with lots of appeal despite the hairlines which are consistent with the grade.
