Description

1881 Eight-Piece Proof Set

1881 Proof Set. A well matched, if not totally choice set, also consisting of eight different types. They include:
Indian Cent PR 64 Red and Brown PCGS. Slight browning on the highpoints, with a crescent of violet and bluish-green iridescence on the right side of the obverse.
Three-Cent Nickel PR 64 PCGS. Light gray and golden patina over surfaces that could easily be interpreted as gem quality.
Shield Nickel PR 64 PCGS. Dazzling proof brilliance. An almost perfectly round unfinished area to the left of the motto is certainly mint-caused.
Seated Liberty Dime PR 63 PCGS. Mostly brilliant with a slight cameo effect.
Seated Liberty Quarter PR 61 PCGS. Noticeably hairlined on the obverse, while the flashier reverse is framed in russet toning.
Seated Liberty Half-Dollar PR 62 PCGS. Lovely cameoed surfaces that are untoned in the centers and show an edging of russet and blue.
Trade Dollar PR 61 PCGS. Bright, watery surfaces with tinges of pale violet and blue surrounding the devices.
Morgan Dollar PR 61 PCGS. Nicely frosted on the central devices, with hairlining that is most bothersome in the obverse field and golden-toned denticles.
