1884 Seven-Piece Proof Set
1884 Proof Set. Judging from the variance in quality and appearance, it would be safe to say that this set has not remained intact since the 19th century. The coins included are:Indian Cent PR 65 Red and Brown PCGS. Glorious green and purple iridescence over near-flawless surfaces.
Three-Cent Nickel PR 66 PCGS. Just the lightest patina separates this outstanding example from "as struck" status. A deeper speck of color is visible on the reverse edge to the right of 6 o'clock.
Liberty Nickel PR 66 PCGS. Impeccably preserved beneath delicate golden-violet and greenish-gray patina.
Seated Liberty Dime PR 63 PCGS. Rich coppery-red accents with bright blue iridescence about the obverse periphery.
Seated Liberty Quarter PR 63 PCGS. Watery gunmetal surfaces with subtle iridescent overtones.
Seated Liberty Half-Dollar PR 65 PCGS. A spectacular, fully brilliant cameo that obviously looks very much as it did in the year it was struck.
Morgan Dollar PR 55 PCGS. Heavily hairlined, but perhaps receiving a somewhat harsh assessment as the surfaces display neither friction nor wear.
