    Description

    1899 Six-Piece Proof Set

1899 Proof Set. Generally considered to be the final year of the 19th century, although a more analytical approach would make it the next-to-last year. The quality here starts off nice enough, but drops-off on the larger denominations. Included are:
Indian Cent PR 65 Red and Brown PCGS. Just the slightest fading of the original mint red, with a spot below the second S in STATES.
Liberty Nickel PR 65 PCGS. Streaky orange overtones on the obverse, subtle gray and yellow-gold patina covers the reverse.
Barber Dime PR 64 PCGS. Natural rose-gray patina over the gem-quality obverse, almost equal quality on the opposite side.
Barber Quarter PR 60 PCGS. Bright, moderately hairlined surfaces.
Barber Half-Dollar PR 63 PCGS. Well mirrored with light peripheral toning and only a single blemish of note, that being a hairline in front of Liberty's chin.
Morgan Dollar PR 61 PCGS. A trifle foggy in portions of the fields and displaying reasonably light hairlines for the grade.
