Description
1866 5C Rays PR63 Cameo NGC. This is the single lowest-grade Cameo proof of this issue at NGC, although its contrast is strong and there are no distracting marks. Sharp devices complement the mirrored fields amid a delicate golden glow. This first-year proof is popular as a With Rays type coin, but Cameos are infrequently offered.Ex: Long Beach Signature (Heritage, 9/2007), lot 564, which realized $1,380; Los Angeles Signature (Heritage, 8/2009), lot 245, which realized $1,840.(Registry values: N2998)
