Rare CAC-Approved Example
1866 5C Rays PR64 Cameo PCGS. CAC. Proof 1866 Shield nickels
are the first of their type, all struck with rays between the stars
on the reverse. Examples are a challenge to locate with
white-on-black cameo surfaces such as those seen on this coin.
Mostly brilliant throughout, the surfaces are exceptionally clean
and the contrast is rather stark between the fields and devices.
This is the only PR64 Cameo endorsed by CAC. CAC: 1 in 64, 24 finer
(1/18).Ex: Palm Beach Signature (Heritage, 11/2004), lot 5810.
