Description
1866 5C Rays PR64 PCGS. This slate-gray Choice proof displays hints of champagne-gold in the fields and has slightly subdued mirrors except when the coin is tilted slightly under a light, after which each side shows mild field-motif contrast. The design elements are well-struck, and the borders show one or two minute, unobtrusive flecks. The first year of the long-lived nickel denomination, and the most collectible proof date of the Rays subtype.Ex: FUN Signature (Heritage, 1/2010), lot 3669.(Registry values: N2998)
