1866 5C Rays PR65 Cameo NGC. CAC. The inaugural issue in the
Shield nickel series comprised reportedly 600+ proofs. The exact
total is unknown and will almost certainly remain so, as minor
proof coin mintages were unrecorded prior to 1878. Nickel-gray
surfaces have deeply mirrored fields and excellent visual appeal to
