Inaugural Issue, Two-Year Type
1866 5C Rays PR65 PCGS. CAC. The 1866 is a first-year issue
and one of just two emissions with rays around the denomination.
The Guide Book reports a mintage of 600+ proofs. Glints of
powder-blue and light gold patina appear over this predominantly
brilliant nickel-gray Gem. Small contact marks occur on the shield
and 5. CAC-endorsed in an old green label holder. PCGS shows 41
