Description

First-Year 1866 Rays Shield Nickel, PR66

1866 5C Rays PR66 PCGS. By far the more available of the two With Rays proof issues, as the 1867 Rays is a great rarity. This first-year specimen boasts uniformly attractive nickel-gold surfaces with considerable cameo contrast, even though unnoted on the holder. Some fuzziness on the holder may obscure the lower part of the central 5 in the photo. Population: 39 in 66, 1 finer (3/11).(Registry values: N2998)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 276G, PCGS# 3817, Greysheet# 2889)
