Description

NGC 1866 Rays PR 66. A high-contrast example of this popular first year type coin. The diagnostic center dot is plainly visible on the reverse--a trait found on all genuine proofs of this year. The surfaces show numerous small planchet flakes on each side, but especially on the reverse giving that side an almost matte-like appearance. The coin is mostly brilliant with light golden peripheral color and we can see no obvious out-of-mint problems on either side. Population: 12 in 66, 4 finer.
