Superb Toned PR 67 1866 Rays Nickel
1866 Rays PR 67 NGC. We cannot remember having ever handled a lovelier proof 1866 nickel. The fields are deeply mirrored and there is enough frost on the devices to give the coin a noticeable cameo contrast. Most of each side is covered in pale aqua-blue patina with rainbow iridescence around the peripheries. A few tiny flecks of carbon can be seen with magnification, but these do not impair the exceptional visual appeal of this important type as a proof. Population: 7 in 67, none are finer (4/98).Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 276G, PCGS# 3817, GSID# 2889)
