Description

1866 Rays Nickel in PR 64

1866 Rays PR 64 NGC. Ex: Dawson. First year of issue and a low mintage proof type coin with an official (but apparently underreported) mintage of only 125 proofs. This is a boldly struck coin with nicely mirrored fields and the diagnostic center dot on the reverse. There is a streak of amber toning across the obverse along with milky gray patina on the reverse that hinder the underlying reflectivity.
