Description
Enchanting Cameo Proof 1866 Rays Nickel
1866 Rays PR 65 NGC. Bidders should not be misled by this coin "only" grading PR 65. The eye appeal is far beyond that of a gem coin; in fact, first glance made us think it was PR 67, that is just how powerful the two-toned cameo contrast is. The fields possess an unfathomable depth of mirrored reflectivity and the devices are heavily frosted. Close examination reveals a few tiny lint marks and planchet imperfections that were struck into the surface of the coin at the time of production, and we suppose this is the reason for the 65 grade. There is just the slightest trace of color on each side but the overall presentation of the coin is brilliant.Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 276G, PCGS# 3817, GSID# 2889)
