Description
1867 5C No Rays PR64 NGC. The stars are better-impressed on this near-Gem No Rays proof than on some survivors of this issue, which Bowers estimates was struck to the extent of 850 to 1,100 coins. The largely untoned surfaces show only a couple of stray ticks amid a bold strike and good eye appeal. Gem proofs are considerably more elusive. From The Kling Family Collection.(Registry values: N991)
