Bold PR66 Deep Cameo
1867 5C No Rays PR66 Deep Cameo PCGS. Mint records report
600 proof No Rays Shield nickels having been sold as part of silver
proof sets, and a small, unknown number of additional pieces were
likely distributed in minor proof sets, as well. The survival rate
is fair in the absolute sense, but the available population
declines significantly when one crosses over into the pursuit of
Cameo examples, and Deep Cameos are nothing short of rare. PCGS has
encapsulated only five Deep Cameo representatives in all grades,
with three in PR66 and none finer (10/14). This piece is simply
magnificent in both technical and aesthetic appeal. Crisp
white-on-black contrast exhibits warm champagne-gold toning over
each side, with tack-sharp devices and seemingly flawless
