    1872 Shield Nickel, PR67
The Finest of Two Ultra Cameos Known

1872 5C PR67 Ultra Cameo NGC. The 1872 proof Shield nickel is a rarity in Superb Gem condition, with or without a Cameo designation. No Deep Cameos are reported by PCGS, and NGC has seen just two: one in PR66 and the present PR67. This coin is the sole finest proof known (3/17). The obverse is boldly die doubled at the annulet. The strike is sharp, and the depth of the cameo contrast is exceptional. True white-on-black contrast engulfs both sides, and there are no marks or hairlines. The coin is plated on the NGC Coin Explorer website. Registry Set collectors should not let this rare opportunity pass by.(Registry values: P2)
