    1873 Shield Nickel, PR67 Cameo
    Closed 3

1873 5C Closed 3 PR67 Cameo NGC. This high-grade example was struck on a well-produced planchet that shows very little granularity. The mintage for the 1873 proof nickel is uncertain, but estimated widely between 1,100 and 1,650 pieces. All are of the Closed 3 variant. The deeply mirrored fields contrast nicely against the softly frosted devices, and each side shows just the slightest bit of iridescence over the otherwise brilliant finish. Census: 5 in 67 Cameo (1 in 67 ), 0 finer (10/19).

The outcome of the auction far exceeded my best hopes and would not likely have been as successful with out your sound advice on where to present the coin and how best to set the reserve. Throughout the process your availability , support and knowledge were exceptional.
