Repunched Date
1873 5C Closed 3 PR67 PCGS. The date is minutely repunched
north, with the underdigit most obvious on the 1. This variety is
unlisted in the Cherrypickers' reference of die varieties
for this date. The 3 is most certainly of the Closed 3 logotype, a
characteristic which is sometimes difficult for the novice to
discern on this issue. This coin is sharply struck and mirrored in
the fields, with delicate rainbow toning blended over both sides.
