Description

1877 Shield Nickel, PR64
Low Mintage, Key Date

1877 5C JD-1, R.2, PR64 PCGS. 1877 is the first of two consecutive years in which the Shield nickel would only be issued in proof format, with only 900 total minted and sold to collectors. This piece is well struck with cold gray luster and gold toning, particularly prevalent on the reverse. As expected of the year, this coin is excellently preserved with no notable abrasions to detract from its eye appeal.
From The Leo J. Clark Collection.
