Description
1877 Shield Nickel, PR64
Low Mintage, Proof Issue
1877 5C JD-2, High R.3, PR64 PCGS. There were only three
proof-only years for the Shield nickel, with 1877 having the lowest
mintage at just 900 pieces. This boldly struck example displays
warm-frosted silver luster with no notable abrasions that would
detract from the coin's appeal. At Choice preservation, the piece
is an exceptional type coin for this scant proof issue.Coin Index Numbers: (Variety PCGS# 102789, Base PCGS# 3831)
