Proof-Only Key to the Series
1877 5C PR64 NGC. The proof-only key to the Shield nickel
series, the 1877 saw just 900 pieces struck and survivors are
eagerly contested today at auction. This near-Gem example shows the
expected sharp proof strike on nickel-gray, largely untoned
surfaces that are highly lustrous and show only minimal contact. A
