Cameo PR65 1877 Shield Nickel A Rare Proof-Only Year
1877 5C PR65 Cameo PCGS. Key issue in the Shield nickel series with only 510 pieces believed struck, all proofs. This and the following year are both proof-only issues and both are predictably elusive in any grade. This piece has the added element of sharp cameo contrast between the devices and the deeply mirrored fields. Just the slightest overlay of tan patina can also be discerned on each side of this lovely and problem-free Gem.
