1877 Shield Nickel, PR67 Cameo
Essential for a Complete Date Set

1877 5C PR67 Cameo PCGS. This beautifully preserved Superb Gem Cameo proof offers moderate reflectivity and mild yet distinct contrast. The most prominent attribute is the patina -- periwinkle, mint-green, and lemon-gold, with occasional flashes of magenta at the margins. Easily among the most visually appealing of the 14 Cameos certified at this numeric level.

Population Data (3/15): This piece is tied for finest with seven other Cameos at PCGS; NGC has also seen seven Cameos in this grade (one PR67 ★ ) and none numerically finer.

Heritage Commentary: The 1877, the more elusive of two proof-only issues in the Shield nickel series, is among the most important dates for this early five cent design. Mintage figures are speculative, but the generally accepted total is just 900 coins, making it among the lower-mintage proof issues of the entire series. Obviously, this issue is in high demand among date collectors.
