In-Demand Proof-Only Date
1877 5C PR67 NGC. The 900 Shield nickel proofs struck in
1877 represented the only production of that denomination for the
year. The resulting proof-only issue is the subject of substantial
date pressure from collectors needing to fill the hole in their
sets. Specimens are often described as "dull," but this Superb Gem
proof is flashy with brilliant surfaces that display a faint golden
tinge. Expectedly razor-sharp and essentially free of marks.
