Description
1878 5C PR66 Cameo NGC. A reflective example of this proof-only issue -- essential for a complete date set, and seldom seen any finer. Vibrant, brilliant-silver surfaces show frosted motifs and a razor-sharp strike with a slight hint of gold at the margins. A small planchet flaw by the T in TRUST goes nearly unnoticed but is mentioned for accuracy. Nicely mirrored for the issue, which often resembles a business strike although only proofs were made. Census: 12 in 66 Cameo, 5 finer (4/16).From The Rev. Dr. James G. K. McClure Collection.(Registry values: P2)
