Description
1878 5C PR66 NGC. A pristine proof, one of a few hundred of this proof-only date that survive today, with brilliant light gray surfaces. Faint traces of iridescent toning accent this boldly defined proof. Some raised metal inside the lower loop of the second 8 prompted Breen to call this obverse an overdate, but it appears to be a repunched 8, in our opinion.(Registry values: N1793)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 276V, PCGS# 3832, GSID# 2928)
