1878 5C PR67 NGC. This golden-gray Superb Gem proof 1878 Shield nickel shows remnants of metal in the lower loop of the last 8 ... Breen's Proof Encyclopedia calls this a "rare early state" with underdigit 7, but we believe that most show this feature. The second proof-only mintage in the series.
