Description

1878 5C PR 65. Lightly toned throughout in silver-gray shades, the proof qualities of the underlying fields are only visible at select light angles. The boldly struck devices, however, rise powerfully through the patination. Smooth and free of noteworthy contact marks, the surfaces reveal a few scattered dark spots on the reverse that do not detract from this example's overall pleasing appearance.
